dba StaFast Building Projects

20-Year RoofKit White Reinforced Membrane Limited Material Warranty

Subject to the terms, conditions, and limitations stated below, StaFast Building Projects, an Ohio corporation, (“StaFast”) warrants exclusively to the owner of the building on which the RoofKit White reinforced Membrane Product is installed (“Owner”) that StaFast’s RoofKit White Reinforced Membrane Product (“Product”) is free from manufacturing defects at the time of sale. StaFast further warrants that the Product will not deteriorate from weathering for a period of Twenty (20) years from the date of receipt of the attached application and registration (“Commencement Date”). For purposes of this Limited Material Warranty, the Owner is conclusively presumed to be the Owner identified as of the Commencement Date. This Limited Material Warranty does not apply to materials not sold by StaFast nor does it cover any labor costs or other elements of a construction project.

The useful life of a given Product may be affected by many factors including: the weather conditions to which it is exposed; the quality of its installation; the type and quality of the construction, including the roof decking and ventilation; and other factors over which StaFast has no control. This Limited Material Warranty described the remedy in the event that Investigation reveals that the Product has defects in material or manufacturing workmanship that affect performance before the expiration of the stated warranty period. Any limited warranty does not ensure that the covered product will last the entire length of the stated warranty period.

TERMS, CONDITIONS, LIMITATIONS

  1. To request performance of any StaFast obligation under this Limited Material Warranty, the Owner must, within thirty (30) days of the discovery of a defect, send a written notification (“Notice”) of the alleged defect with a copy of this warranty and proof of purchase of the Product (the foregoing items collectively with the Notice are sometimes referred to herein as “Claim”) to StaFast Building Products – RoofKit Warranty Services, 7095 Americana Parkway, Reynoldsburg, OH 43068.
  2. StaFast shall within a reasonable amount of time from receipt of the Claim, review the Claim and may ask for samples of the Product, photographs showing the extent of the product or other evidence reasonably related to the Claim (collectively referred to herein as “Investigation”). The Owner is responsible for providing the same, and any other evidence reasonable requested, at the Owner’s expense. The Owner is required to allow reasonable time for the Investigation by StaFast and/or its designated representative as well as laboratory or other related testing of the Product that is subject of the Claim. Any Claim for product which have been altered, repaired, or replaced prior to StaFast’s receipt of the Claim and investigation shall be denied. If the Investigation reveals manufacturing defects covered by this Limited Material Warranty, StaFast will provide, within a reasonable period of time, a remedy in accordance with the conditions of this Limited Material Warranty.
  3. This Limited Material Warranty is the sole and exclusive remedy provided to the Owner with the regard to the failure of the Product. If any Product contains defects in material or manufacturing workmanship that affect performance, StaFast, in its sole and exclusive discretion, shall either supply new product OR supply reasonable equivalent replacement product, of a similar design (hereinafter collectively referred to as “Replacement Product”), prorated as set forth in paragraph 4 below. StaFast’s decisions on which Replacement Product, if any, is supplied shall be at the sole discretion of StaFast.
  4. After the first year of this warranty, the value of the Replacement Product which StaFast shall supply will be reduced by the amount of usage the Owner has received from the Product. StaFast will therefore supply a percentage of the Replacement Product valued as described above, which will be calculated by dividing the number of months remaining in the warranty period by the number of months in the original warranty period. No application, installation, labor or other costs covered by this Limited Material Warranty. This Limited Material Warranty shall not be construed to include anything expect the Replacement Product according to the terms above. The Replacement Product shall not include flashing, metal, underlayment, and related materials unless such materials are StaFast Products that are independently covered by a separate warranty.

    7. Usage or spillage of material or substance not compatible with the Product, including, but not limited to, petroleum based products, oils, acids, animals fats, harmful chemicals, and the like, which come in contact with the Product and causes deterioration.
  6. This Warranty shall be null and void if any of the following occurs:
    1. Owner transfers the property on which the Product was installed after the Commencement Date; or
    2. Owner fails to use reasonable care in maintaining the Product; or

  9. This Warranty supersedes and is in lieu of any and all other warranties and representations, whether oral or in writing. No representative of StaFast has authority to make any representations or promises except as stated herein. RoofKit EPDM Warnings and Installation

GENERAL INFORMATION

Prior to the installation of a RoofKit roof system, it is recommended that the installer view the RoofKit “Instructional” Video. This video is available from your local RoofKit dealer or visit RoofKitroofing.com.

Remembering a few, simple things not to do when installing RoofKit can help ensure a smooth and successful installation.

  • Never use solvent-based roof cement on a rubber roof
  • Never use aluminum coatings
  • Never use RoofKit Latex Adhesive for rubber-to-rubber seaming
  • Never use RoofKit Contact Adhesive packaged in a five- gallon metal bucket for rubber-to-rubber seaming
  • Never bond RoofKit EPDM membrane directly to the flange of a metal drip edge
  • Never bond RoofKit EPDM membrane on top of shingles
  • Never adhere RoofKit EPDM unless Contact and or Multipurpose Adhesive is dry to the touch
  • Never use Seam Tape or Tape Flashing as cover strip
  • Never use "ice and watershield" in, or as part of, your RoofKit EPDM roof installation
  • Never use RoofKit Rubber Roofing Products as pond liner.

RoofKit User Cautions and Warnings!

  • Read Caution labels on all adhesive, primer and sealant containers. These materials contain petroleum distillates and are extremely flammable. Care must be taken to avoid open flames. Do not smoke when using these products. Safety Data Sheets (SDS) are available for these products and should be consulted.
  • Adhesives should be used in a well-ventilated area. Avoid inhalation of any fumes. Care should be taken to ensure fumes do not enter the building through windows or fresh-air-intake ventilation fans.
  • Avoid adhesive contact with skin. Contact with skin should be avoided and necessary protective equipment and clothing should be worn.
  • Avoid adhesive contact with eyes. Contact with eyes should be avoided and necessary protective equipment should be worn.
  • Safeguard against falling by reading ladder manufacturer's warnings; and by establishing a perimeter warning system utilizing ropes with flags attached. Surfaces may be slippery when wet or covered with frost. Always work with a friend and never work with your back to the roof's edge.
  • Care must be taken with fasteners that penetrate the deck to avoid contact with electrical wiring and plumbing.
  • Re-roofing over a wet substrate is not a good roofing practice. All wet materials should be removed before proceeding with the installation of new materials.
  • Condensation may occur when applying adhesives at temperatures below 40º F. especially when there is high humidity. If droplets of water are discovered, discontinue installation until weather conditions improve. At that time reapply a thin coat of adhesive over the old coat of adhesive and continue installation. Note: All adhesives should be applied at temperatures above 40º F.
  • Allow adhesives to adequately dry to avoid blistering of the membrane (solvent based adhesives only). Given time, blistering will likely subside and roof membrane will perform for the long term. Note: The RoofKit Rubber Roofing Membrane may be applied to wet Latex Bonding Adhesive for field applications.
  • Positive drainage of at least one-eighth inch (1/8") in twelve inches (12") is required for warranty coverage.
  • Solvent based products such as asphalt roof cements and coatings will deteriorate the RoofKit Rubber Roofing Membrane and should never be used on this type of roof.

Note: RoofKit adhesives have been tested to ensure compatibility with the RoofKit Rubber Roofing Membrane. Use of non-RoofKit products will void the membrane warranty.

  • Avoid adhesive contact with skin. Chemically resistant gloves are required. If adhesive comes in contact with skin, wash with soap and water.
  • Avoid adhesive contact with eyes. Safety glasses should be worn. If adhesive comes in contact with eyes, flush for 15 minutes and call a physician.
  • Care must be taken with fasteners that penetrate the deck to avoid contact with electrical wiring and plumbing.
  • Reroofing over a wet substrate is not good roofing practice. All wet materials should be removed before proceeding with the installation of new materials.
  • Condensation may occur when applying adhesives at temperatures below 40o F. especially when there is high humidity. If droplets of water are discovered, discontinue installation until weather conditions improve. At that time reapply a thin coat of adhesive over the old coat of adhesive and continue installation. Note: All adhesives should be applied at temperatures above 40o F. DO NOT ALLOW ADHESIVE TO FREEZE.
  • When using White Membrane Water Based Bonding Adhesive in a "contact" or two-sided application allow adhesives to adequately dry to avoid bubbling of the membrane. Note: The RoofKit White Reinforced Membrane may be applied directly into wet White Membrane Water Based Bonding Adhesive (one-sided application method) for horizontal field applications.
  • Positive drainage of at least one-eighth inch (1/8") in twelve inches (12") is required for warranty coverage.
  • Petroleum products such as asphalt roof cements and solvent based coatings will deteriorate the RoofKit White Reinforced Membrane and should never be used on this type of roof membrane.

Note: RoofKit White Membrane Water Based Adhesive has been tested to ensure compatibility with the RoofKit White Reinforced Membrane. Use of non-RoofKit products will void the membrane warranty.
